Grease Is The Word
Monday 3rd June, 2002
| On Monday 3rd of June, 2002, Grease opened at the
Hippodrome. To make the event special, Elmgrove LeRoc were contacted
to give the launch of this rock and roll musical a fabulous start - and
what better way than to go down there in person, and LeRoc outside the
Hippodrome while the crowds waited eagerly for the show to begin...
Here are some photos from the fun we had that evening. We had the
added bonus that all who turned up got free tickets to shows of their
choice as well, so it was completely a win-win situation!
|
 |

 |
Time to get started. At the Hippodrome, with cars
whizzing by, and (probably) pedestrians whizzing by even faster, knowing
the centre of Bristol. Oh well, a good place to dance, with a good
crowd to watch us. |
 |
David and Liz, warming up the crowd. Is it me or does
David look a bit like a T-Bird, and Liz look a bit like a Pink Lady?
Hmmm. |
 |
Diana and Tom, strutting their funky stuff. They also
seem to have dressed "in fashion" for the event, bobby socks and
all! |
 |
Oh yes, you can feel the concentration now, moving up to
take pole position these dancers are strutting it in the finest of
fashions. |
 |
A lot of the crowd (all generations!) thought that this was
all the best stuff since sliced bread, and joined in in their own
way. These three ladies were dancing, singing, clapping, and
generally having an absolute scream during the show. |
 |
Graham's getting down and showing the crowd just how it
should be done. Oh yes. |
 |
Graham Weeks and Jennie were putting on a fine bit of
dancing here, looking the part too! Congrats to Jennie and Graham for
their competition wins this year. |
 |
Yep, those girls are still at it! Let me see you hand
jive... |
 |
John's giving it some. Quite a lot actually. Is
that legal in public? Looks far too much like hard work to me that
one! Mind you, judging by the look on his face he's enjoying
something... That's bordering on a caption competition, I think! :) |
 |
Liz and Graham are discussing something here, and by the
hand gestures it's the size of something. So how come Graham's
"thing" is bigger than the one Liz is thinking of? Another
possible caption competition, definitely! |
 |
Nic and Lin are having a whale of a time, and are definitely
wrapped up in the dancing here. Enjoying yourselves like these two
are is totally what LeRoc's all about. Very nice to see
indeed. |
 |
Phew, time for the show to start. Ladies and
gentlemen, please make your way to your seats... Well, we've warmed the
crowd up to a frenzy, and now the next show begins. We've done our
bit, earned our pay, and are just about to collapse in a hot sweaty heap
on the floor! |
 |
Finally, the show has started, the crowds have departed, and
it's now time for a quick group photo of the dancers who are left at the
end of the demo. |
 |
And what better place to wind down afterwards than one of
the many pubs around the area? Supporting local business and all
that, honest!
Yeah, right... who's round is it next (hic!)? |
 |
Thanks to Revolution
Pictures for taking the photos. |
